There's actually only one way to get from Maple Island to Victoria Island. Take the Southeast route at the split road, and you'll reach Southperry, where you'll find Shanks running a ship that heads to Victoria Island. The weapon I just gave you is a Razor, and it's a form of dagger. It should be slightly more powerful than the weapon you currently have.
